MTP Data center sells Eee PC now?

MTP Data write on their website that they have the Asus Eee PC in stock now?! MidtData sælger Eee PC nu?? shoppingcart 128x128 The same MID data center here.

In contrary, Elgiganten and LinuxShop still have it on reservation. How the heck do that connect together? Wonder if the 2 previous mentioned has just thrown that on the website and then pretend that they postpone it a few days off – so it happens to fit with the official release date? In that case they are full of lies, I’ll send them an email and just ask. Follow along here – if there are answers!

Update: Mid data sells Eee PC now?

I heard from Mid Data about their sale on Eee PC, which they already had put on the

Update til: MidtData sælger Eee PC nu?? eee pc 900

web last week – ready for sale immediately and shipped the same day as ordered.

They confirmed first that they had a “good enough” Eee PC on stock, but sent so soon after a mail number 2, who explained the first product will be launched Monday (today) and therefore would only be shipped today. Hmmm this is not quite optimal, you would have thought that you could sit with an Eee machine the whole weekend and you can already get it tomorrow. However, the chances are that “they have come” to send the first Eee’s out before the launching date, this is unknown.

MTP data has chosen not to respond to the mail I sent – you can call that a poor costumer service, so I would not recommend buying from them.

Update per july 29: it turns out that the MTP has replied to a wring email address because they obviously have been manually typing in the address. The answer was, moreover, that they had a few pieces in stock of the black. Linux variant..But it’s becoming old news now.

So the Asus Eee PC released for sale

So the day has come that the Asus Eee PC was officially released for sale in Denmark. Så er Asus Eee PC frigivet til salg eee pc 900 b 300x300 Linuxshop, who was the first to some out with pre-order of the Eee Pc, have it already sold out. But other palces, there are still Eee’s in stock – so it should be a tiny issue to get your hands on the machine with you have to order from UK or other places.

Here in the country, we actually went straight to 900’s models, Asus Eee PC 900, as it is officially named. The first model was Asus Eee PC 701, where 900 model has been given a better monitor or TFT screen with the size of 1024 x 600 which also means, that common websites can be viewed without any horizontal scrolling. Eee PC is available at home both with Asus’ Linux variant and with Windows XP.

Enjoy!

Guide: Install Ubuntu on Eee PC

Ars Technica has a new How – to –Guide on installing Ubuntu on Eee PC. Guide: Installer Ubuntu på Eee PC ubuntulogo Ubuntu should be a little “easier” to manage than Windows Xp which can be heavy for a small machine. But why not just continue row un with Xandros? ( Asus Linux as preloaded on the Linux Eee PC’s) because some items are becoming outdated in the following article, which complicates the installation of other programs such as Firefox 3

New Eee PC clone: $ 99

There is now a new netbook/ ultra-portable market for the low price of $ 99! Ny Eee PC klon: 99$ jl7100 200x200 With exchange rates this amount to a price of just Dkk 469.51. There will be cargo charges, VAT and any duty

It’s called J-pro Mini Laptop JL7100. The company is headquartered in Hong Kong and all can fear that it is a “real china product” in a negative sense. Unfortunately, it is impossible to find the distributor of the product, but I would just send them an email and see if any replies here on the blog.

Unlike the other clones (or whatever we should call those who follow in the footsteps of Asus Eee PC’s to get their piece of the pie. ) it has here, at least some pretty lousy specs compared to the Eee PC:

And many other details! See for yourself at Join Tech’s website
All in all, it’s quite miserable specifications compared to the Asus Eee PC 900, but the price is indeed very tempting! So although not a direct comparison worthy, could the low price certainly easy to attract a handful of customers.

Extreme expansion of the Eee PC

Asus Eee PC is indeed known for being a little ultra portable machine. Ekstrem udbygning af Eee PC jesselang eeepc 200x200 You would perhaps think that it is impossible or difficult to fit more in the small box than they already have stuffed in there. But in its usual style shows Internet grassroots a surprise and Eee PC will be rebuilt and enlarges (also called molded) in style.

For example Canadian Jesse Lang rebuilds its Eee PC so the particulars contain:

Eee PC guides updated

I have collected a list over the Eee PC- guides, which i think soundsEee PC guides opdateret 152108283 200x180 very interesting- and maybe will try it in time. The list is constantly updated, if I should stumble upon something really interesting.

New Models on the way: Eee PC 903, 904 and 905

Rumors of new Eee PCs with bigger keyboard:Nye modeller på vej: Eee PC 903, 904 og 905 903 900a 200x200 Asus is out again with the new machine so quickly that is impossible to follow. Maybe they are trying to saturate the competitors so they have a harder time getting a foot in the ground?

The existing model and “ up coming models” includes the 700/701 (4G/8G) 900, 901, 1000, 1000H and Eee PC 1000HD besides Eee PC  Box (mini desktop PC) in another genre.

Now the rumors is that there are a few new models on sight: Exactly, with full model names Asus Eee PC 903, Asus Eee PC 904 and Asus Eee PC 905- where the previous mentioned will be called the Eee PC 900A instead. 904’s are already found with an edition with HD and Windows, it is 904HD, look at Asus Tek’s website.

The rumors have been mixed, but according to Asus’s website 904HD’s, it seems that the model comes with the “middle”screen at 8.9” with 1024x 600 resolution and Celeron CPU’s (although the newest models now come with Atom CPU that is faster and more Efficient). The other rumor is that the latest expansion to the series primary have a goal to sell the “cheap” 900- model in a slightly larger cabinet as a way to get a slightly larger keyboard – just because it has been a criticism from many users (they are simply too small for a person with sausage fingers or even oven glove look) it also seems that Eee PC 904 is choked on some other characteristics, not the least the webcam. So the rumor that this is going to be a cheap model is probably right!

But hold the thought a second, Asus sends a lot of news thing out- it is becoming more confusing series now!
See all the video of pre-production model of 904’s here

Future for Eee PC: Ultimate and PRO Fashion models on its way

Asus has revealed a little about the future of their Eee PC model range. Fremtiden for Eee PC: Ultimate og PRO Fashion modeller på vej eee pc roadmap 350x269 As you know the series is a little crowded already with its approximately 11 different models, but before the is year is over, Asus expect Eee PC series will have approximately 23 different models! The models are designed to target different segments of the market and will divide 3- sharing model series on Smart Casual, Pro Fashion and Ultimate. See the pictures here, that shows the whole strategy at trustedreviews.com

Smart Causal– there’s not much new here, it will actually be the name of the current series, but there will still be new upcoming models.

Ultimate and Pro Fashion – will be more high end machines with dual Atom CPU (the current Atom CPU runs only single core, so we have to wait for the Intel manufacturers to produce dual core Atom, before we get to see them on sale) Moreover. They will be 10.1 “ screen and bigger disks – whether model numbers a la: Asus Eee PC Ultimate: S101 and S91, Asus Eee PC Pro fashion: 1000HV, 1002HA, 1002HA and T101. Beautiful- we are back in the happy 90’s when it comes to names.

The biggest disadvantages is of course the price – the Asus Eee PC started out as a small, cheap travel subnotebooks, but we are now approaching the major change in prices of the “ordinary” subnotebooks. The series is small to from being “netbooks” to be “ultraportable laptops”. But will probably get what you pay for – the question is just about whether you pay for what you need. My initial assessment is that if you work on tasks that requires “intense” processing power, it is still very rare that you would want to sit and work with subnotebooks.

Back to Basics: More Eee PC models in the 700-series

Back to Basics: Flere Eee PC modeller i 700 serien eeepc 701sd 280x350

Brief News : Asus looks like to be heading back to its roots, as there are several models on their way to their original 700 – series. It also shows the strategy the poster from yesterday that there are multi Eee PC’s coming in “Smart Casual” category. If Asus should remain the logic somewhat intact that there will be a talk about Eee PC’s with 7 “ displays – like the first Eee PC 700 ( 30GB hard drive) and 701SD-4G. Super genius with 2 models, named 701Sd – especially if the Eee PC won’t come with solid State Disk, but with an ordinary hard drive? Of course this can because one of the Asus did not cleaned up with its powerpoint presentation before being photographed…

Anyways, otherwise there are apparently no one who know much of it yet- but we’d guess that there will be priced aggressively – perhaps even cheaper than the priginal Asus Eee PC 700’s.

LG on the road with the Eee PC competitor

LG på vej med Eee PC konkurrent lg logo

The first report that LG is also launching with an Eee PC competitor now fills online. Their Eee “wannabe killer” called LG X110and expected to be on the market by October. There will be a machine with an 9 inch screen. Intel Atom CPU, 120 GB HD and 2 GB of RAM – that is 3G so you won’t have to use dongle on your Eee PC  or to run 3G via Bluetooth. But before this is going to happen we have expect that Asus will launch a handful of Eee PC machines that can do everything or more.

In my opinion it is not great a great surprise since all major PC manufacturers have a new machine on the way. to the surprise of many people was the Asus Eee PC’s huge sales success, so it is no wonder that other manufacturers also wants a bite of Eee PC’s on the market. However, it must become more and more difficult because the market is so crowded – with all the Asus own Eee PC variants.

MSI Wind, Acer One and HP, we already know. And so we know that Intel and Dell also have some new and fun on it’s way. So I predict that we can soon expect a “Surprising” news that even Levono, Fujitsu, Siemens and Toshiba have Eee PC clones in mind. Medion’s also have a fine Eee PC clone ready for sale now. It is becoming a more of a old days news, but read a little more about it later during the day here on the Asus Eee PC Blog!

Aldi sells Eee PC clone

From next Wednesday Aldi has an Eee PC clone ofAldi sælger Eee PC klon aldi medion Medion Brand on sale for Dkk 3.000. Everything looks promising. Specs recalls clearly more than the MSI Wind Asus Eee PC 900  , since there is a bigger screen, HD and RAM than the Eee PC’s on the market here at home. The machine comes with Windows, and the price is lower than 500, – with the MSI Wind same price as the Asus Eee PC 900 with Windows preinstalled, so it looks like it is a good buy.

The only draw back that catches the eye is the lack of Bluetooth – at least for me since my plan is to run 3G over the phone rather than a special dongle for the purpose. I haven’t gotten that far yet since 3 is a bit slow on delivering a HTC Touch Diamond.

But you need a little machine with more HD than the Eee PC 900 – and is indifferent to the SSD ( Which has the advantage of being more shock – resistant that is on the Eee PC, you can buy her at home), so could Medion machine be a sensible offer.

Asus Launches Eee Stick: Wii games for Eee PC

Asustek alunches an external wireless controller that will beAsus lancerer Eee stick: Wii spil til Eee PCen eee stick 350x230 sold in sets of supported games with selected models of the Eee Box or ultra- portable Eee PC, just as the wireless controller for Nintendo’s Wii, Asus Eee Stick as a “Motion Detector”, it means that you just don’t  get to press buttons to be registered, but also (primarily) the movements you make with your hands.

Asus personally believe that the Eee Stick is suitable for sports games, games where you have to sight (FPS) and games where you have run to the sides such as aircraft or racing games. This somehow corresponds to all the popular games from Wii and uses all types of movements that the Eee Stick can detect, so it’s probably not too far off.

With the 2 batteries to use on Eee Stick you can play on your Eee PC for 72 hours. Eee Stick comes with RF dongle that should be plugged into the Eee PC, Bluetooth would have been a better choice in my opinion, but obviously it’s not something you need to have connected to the PC all the time. And RF (Radio Frequency) has at least a much better range and stability than the IR (infrared).

Asus “admits” that besides the Eee stick is more suited to the Eee PC than any other computers – the important thing is that the games are designed for it.  So there’s probably more talk about Asus has seen a chance to take a bite of Nintendo’s Wii’s market and just used their new Strong Eee to shopot on it’s operation.

Danish Review on Asus Eee PC 1000H

I stumble over a Danish review of the Asus Eee PC 1000H – which is the “biggest” Asus Eee PC in any many ways right now.Dansk anmeldelse af Asus Eee PC 1000H eee pc 1000

The opinions regarding the Eee PC 1000H – not because of the specifications, which are excellent, but because the machine is after a while getting heavier and bigger (10 inch screen and 1.45 Kilo) that some believe that it no longer forms a UMPC/netbook/mini-note but is more like an “ordinary” subnotebooks. Personally I think netbooks should be 11 inch and should weight under 1.5 kilo. (several other netbooks will come close to this limit in the future) but it is not exactly a fixed definition.

1000H can be bought in Denmark right now, but it must be imported from for example UK. (it is a good idea to get your machine back from EU-countries – so you will not have to handle the hassles with the custom tax. If you want to but it from USA you can get both duty and VAT included. I am not quite sure how much it will cost you on tax when it comes to electronics/computers – it can be somewhat from 0-30% – you have to research that on your own, if you are not satisfied buying form EU- countries.

Acer Aspire One will be sold in the middle of September

So there’s news about the Danish will launch Acer’s clone

Acer Aspire One sælges fra midt i semptember acer aspire one

of the competitor’s Asus Eee PC :

Acer’s model is called the Acer Aspire One, and although I haven’t run into the official launching date from Acer, everything indicates that the Acer One will come to the market in mid- September. Otherwise Fona has a launching date on their website.

Acer Aspire One has received a lot of positive reviews around the world and the price also seems t be very competitive, so it must be a machine that is top of the other netbooks.

Fona sell Acer’s Eee-clone in colors white and blue with:

Perfect browsing experience with Eee PC 700’s mini screen?

Expert- chains are on its way with Asus Eee PC 701

Perfekt browsing oplevelse på Eee PC 700s miniskærm? opera mini logo2 350x65

which was the first Eee Pc on the market. It is smaller and cheaper but of course it is more stripped. The screen to be exact: the original Asus Eee PC was only 7 “display with 800 Pixels width. Most website today is optimized with 1024 pixels width therefore it can be a problem with the irritating horizontal scroll bar.  There is still hope for it to be solved.

Since I have had much success using the Opera Mini Java Browser on several of my phones, it suddenly occurred to me that you should be able to use the same browser on the Eee PC 701 and the first great advantage of Opera Mini is that is really good to compress web pages, you can watch them, as they appear and designed, but zooming down so you can see them on a much smaller screen that they originally made for.

You can easily in on a certain area and view a enlargement for example like texts so you can easily read it. For example on iPhone and HTC Touch Diamond.

After a little research on the web, as a result I am not the first to get this idea. Check it out here, how to do it.

http://java4me.blogspot.com/2008/02/run-opera-mini-on-pc-version-06-also.html

It a guide how to use Opera Mini on Windows, I haven’t tried it myself. So don’t hesitate to tell me if you have tried it.

Eee Online Storage is a good resource (?)

Yes, the cryptic title refers to,that

Eee Online Storage bliver en god ressource (?) yo

Asus’ online storage solution for the Eee PC and Eee Box is launched, and everything indicates that it is a great resource for all Eee owners. Partly the solution will be very reasonable, having reportedly will be a solution where the Eee Storage appears as a drive with the hard disk, etc. – That is really easy to handle. However, I must say that the website seems quite unfinished so far ..

It is going to be a good cover for resources that it becomes nothing more than an online storage solution for Eee owner.

Apart from the introduction comes the solution to contain firmware and updates, tutorials, bonus packages with wallpapers and stuff and various other useful pieces of software. So to have “everything” Eee-related lying in one place sounds attractive.

Besides it is also an opportunity for Asus to share in the market with software sales and “media” sales, if the platform over time can develop over time into a kind of iTunes (which also handles updates to iPods, etc.) to Eee users. It says that Eee- brands seem to give opportunities for Asus to move forward into some new markets…
End of a cryptic Eee post. Good weekend here.

More Asus PC models

So Asus is once again on the track with a handfull Eee Pc models.

Flere Asus Eee PC modeller asus eee xp 2 260x350

It is uknown if they should come to the Asian Market.

There’s not much under the sun – it is Eee Pc’s with 9 inch screen, 1 GB RAM or either 16-16 GB SSD or 80GB HDD..the new 4 models will have win XP. The model names will be Asus Eee PC 1000HD XP, 904HD XP, 900 XP (16G) og 901 XP.

Asus Eee PC 904’s is the only model number which hasn’t been used before – but it could be on it’s way.

It looks like a picture has slipped aout from Asus machines, it shows new creation on the front colors. The last previous model names is for any reason included in the news, but it’s not exactly news, it means that the model names have not been with XP eventhough Asus Eee 900 could have XP installed, as far as I know. WTF!!! If it really is a new model name, it must come with different colors – but then it won’t be the sharpest teeth in the sea. Asus has made up the name Eee model names…and there more Asus Eee Pc to come, eventually they can’t find out which is which.

Read for yourself about the latest Asus Eee PC’s with SlashGEar

Dell coming up with the Eee PC clone: Dell E

Dell has (like all the other PC manufacturers) plans to take a bite of

Dell på trapperne med Eee PC klon: Dell E dell e mini 350x192

Asus Eee PC/ netbook market. Their bid is Dell E. I won’t even comment, but I quote from Engadget “Eeenteresting” for the name choice.

The Specifications are as good as (and after a while much boring) as all the other netbooks- 8.9” TFT display at 1024 x 600 ½ or 1 GB of RAM and SSD. Dell wrote that the machine comes with Intel Diamond Ville CPU, but you should not get confused- Diamond Ville is just a code name for Intel Atom- which is exactly found in the MSI Wind and Asus Eee PC 901. Other details, it’s the details that separate the machines from each other, which is in the market right now. Dell separates a bit from the other competitors, depending on what model you choose: Bad webcam (only 0.3 pixels), a battery that resembles between the existing poles, which is 4 cells (most netbooks are with 3 or 6 cells so far) Bluetooth and WiFi are included – and as an interesting variation, all the indications that the machine can be selected with WiMax support, if you are into stuff like that. In additional Dell Eee- clones comes with quite few different colors.

The most interesting ( and the thing that really separates Dell’s Eee – clone) is that Dell may be coming up with BlackTop- which is a SplashTop clone (perhaps they should come up with better names, so cloning is a little less obvious) SplashTop is (almost an instant on) operating system that quickly gives you access to the simple functions after starting it, such as Web Messenger, Skype and email. You see it will be a very welcoming creation.!

For whatever reason (price reduction?). Asus has not included it in their current Eee PC’s – however it is in the Asus Eee Box. We should keep in mind that Asus can manage t launch mew models faster than Dell, and finally Dell will launch their new model in September, therefore the speciofications is no tyet exactly defined. So if Asus sees it as a threat, there will soon come an Asus Eee PC 907 SplashTop – Edition netbook on the market.

Dell’s upcoming series is also 2 fold, as they also have plans to launch portable 12 – inch Dell E Slim – but then we are out of the netbook market and even in a more traditional (probably very thin) Subnotebooks.

Well welcome to Dell: more Eee – clones are coming up from the drawer from all netbook manufacturers. The advantage is there is an increase of competition, and you can have your upcoming netbook from your usual favorite brand. Hopefully there will be soon who will find a variety- with a better screen resolution than the ordinary? Although the market is first booming now, there’s been micro- portable advanced in many years, so it should be possible to find something new instead of just cloning the Asus Eee PC…

I fell over this comparison of UMPC’s in sunlight.Link: UMPCs i sollys... outdoor view umpcs 350x174 Unfortunately, the Asus Eee PC, MSI Wind and Acer is not one of them – so it’s not that interesting. Intel demonstrates UrbanMax

UrbanMax is as far as I can resolve myself on a conceptual base,Intel demonstrerer UrbanMax urbanmax Intel’s bid for a future laptop that can go into production now. There is a talk about a form of a tabletPC with 11” screen 1366 x 768 pixels, Core 2 duo Centrino2 CPU, Windows Vista preinstalled and a sliding keyboard, so it transforms from a touchscreen PC to a netbook a.k.a Eee PC killer.  You must give the audience right it could resemble a combination of the goods from old Compaq/HP tablet PC’s and HTC X7510.

The user interface lloks very cool but check out the video here.

Fujitsu’s netbook launched in Japan

Like all other notebook manufacturers have Fujitsu course, their own Asus Eee PC killer.

Fujitsus netbook lanceret i Japan fuji loox 350x328

And of course with some cool Japanese twists! In Europe they probably call it U2010 while the Americans will call it LifeBook U820 and the Japanese calls it LOOX U/B50N.

The Machine is now on the market in Japan (like so much else we can’t get it here), and has all the usual specs with Intel Atom CPU and 1GB Ram and so on. Unlike other Eee killers/netbook, this mininote comes touch screen, that can be turned so it can be a mini tablet PC. The screen is small 5,6 inch but have 1280x 800 pixels. The operating system is Windows Vista. Battery life is given from 5 to 11 hours, depends  on how you run the standard or advanced. On appearance Fujitsu’s machine also differs from the other Asus Eee PC clones. The Japanese can otherwise buy it as “build to order” and can be ordered with TV tuner. And hey wait a second while I am emptying my keyboard for saliva…

Nice!

Everything differs from the Asus Eee PC, MSI Wind and the other gang. Unfortunately we don’t know if it should come at all, and how we are able to afford it. For there was an indication that the price to compete with cheaper netbooks. Is a wild machine something for you or is too overkill?

Brief news: LG netbook comes with GPS and 3G

LG’s Eee PC Killer  called LG X110 looks like an MSI Wind – and the rumors also

Kort nyt: LGs netbook kommer med GPS og 3G lg x110dsc 350x232

says that MSI stands for much of the production. The specifications also looks like all the other machines, such as the MSi Wind,Acer One and Asus Eee PC 901, which is being trivialized: 1.6 Ghz Atom CPU, 1 GB RAM, windows, 9 or 10 inch screen 1024x600PX. Fortunately LG has been sneaky enough to provide, that it differs from other producers on a couple of points – as suggested earlier : the machine contains both GPS and 3G (HDSPA)- opportunity. This means you can get a 3G sim card directly into the machine and there gain access to the internet via 3G without dongles or other similar things on the thing.

Unlike the previous rumors EnGadget says, only the machine as standard comes with the usual 1 GB of RAM.

Brief News: Review of the Acer One’s OS

Acer Aspire One ( which is Acers bid for an Asus Eee PC Killer) Kort nyt: Anmeldelse af Acer Ones OS acer aspire 175x175 comes in 2 typical versions: one with Windows Xp and one with a Linux Lite. Graphically it is nice to look at, and it should also work fine for everyday tasks. TechTree has made a thorough review, where they conclude that it is not fully implemented. Windows XP Home, runs better on their Acer rather than Linux and the boot time is the same. Asus Eee PC uses Xandros Linux and they mean it is more complete and stable than the Acer One’s variant. Sadly they have smashed their Linux Lite so Thoroughly!

Dell’s netbook launched: Dell Inspiron Mini 9

So Dell has finally launched their netbook. The name is Dell Inspiron Mini 9 Dells netbook lanceret: Dell Inspiron Mini 9 dell mini 9 black 314 and the specification are very boring- exactly the same as the other:

Intel Atom CPU, 8,9 inches 1024x 600 LED, 1.3 Mpixel webcam, XP Home installed, Bluetooth, 8 or 16 GB SSD (here you can get 2GB online storage for free from Box.net, so there something new there). The battery on Dells Asus Eee PC clone can last up to 3 hours, so it is probably also a 3 cell battery. The appearance is pretty boring in my own opinion. Here the Original Eee PC wins and the other netbooks as well. And it costs to get a white cap on the thing, not even in a white color like the Asus Eee PC is.  The price is 399$, even I can’t get it under 449$ with Bluetooth and without for 429 $. So all in all it’s a pretty boring news, but could be a really great machine though like everything else. Despite that it could have its buyers anyway, for Dell after a while has won the good reputation, which has suffered for quite awhile, which the other have difficulties of delivering. Otherwise the keyboard is a crucial thing for some, so there we must await the audience impact. It takes a couple of weeks before we see the Ubuntu version, it’s going to be 50 $ cheaper and should come in different rainbow colors and maybe more choice on HD sizes. (4GB SSD says the rumor)

See Dell’s site:

Link: Asus Eee PC 1000H vs. MSI Wind

Are you looking for those a little bigger netbooks/mininotes?

Link: Asus Eee PC 1000H vs. MSI Wind eee msi vind

In other wise 10 inch screen, you check the reviews I stumble upon, in here Asus biggest netbook Asus Eee PC 1000H vs. MSI Wind. Specification is a bit similar and just the same for the price. Yet there are differences between these 2 machines, which pull a victory home for the MSI Wind according to the reviewer.

Note: Currently in Denmark, only the Asus Eee PC 900 and Asus Eee PC 701SD that is in the market, so Asus Eee PC 1000H must be imported from England, which is very easy to do. So if you are considering on getting one, you should read the reviews here:

The video shows:

The major deficiency here is the Acer Aspire One, which you certainly should be under your consideration. Especially because it can still can be found in various online stores, while the other two Asus Eee PC killere MSI Wind and HP 2133 are difficult to trace the moment …

Brief news: Asus Eee PC 901 in UK in week 39

Hereby a brief news: The following Linuxshop has now confirmed Asus,

Kort nyt: Asus Eee Pc 901 i DK i uge 39 asus eee pc 901 dk 309x350

that the Asus Eee PC 901 coming to Denmark in week 39, it is 2 weeks after that the Asus really had promised it so the delay is not quite much of a talk. With the Eee PC 901 Asus came up with the same good characteristics as many of the competitors on the Danish market with their netbooks. The main change for most buyers is that the machines now include an Intel Atom CPU instead of Celeron CPU, which Asus Eee Pc 701 and Asus Eee PC 900 included.

From my perspective it is far more important that the machine should come in 6 cell battery, the 3 cell batteries  which the competitors have is a load. The price is not crazy. Approximately Dkk 3000,- according to Linuxshop, with the Asus Eee PC 901 again in the front row on the Danish netbook market in my estimation, Especially if you are into shockproof SSD technology rather than a regular hard drive.

Comparison of sizes: Eee PC 900 vs Eee PC 901 vs MSI Wind vs Acer Aspire One vs HP 2133

I fell over the smart tool for visualization of sizes called the Sizeeasy and as a gadget freak with a hang for netbooks/mininotes, it was off course the size of the various Eee PC’ s which were visualized.

It is a great help to show, how sizes are relative to each other. Watch and compare the sizes of the Asus Eee  PC 901 vs. MSI Wind vs. Acer Aspire One vs. HP 2133 here:

Link: Review of the Eee Top – the cheap touchscreen PC

Asus Eee Top looks pretty cool – both ind esign terns and in terms of prives and setup.

Link: Anmeldelse af Eee Top den billige touch screen PC eeetop

It builds on the Eee hardware, so it’s not exactly a powerhouse, like Asus Eee Pc, or other netbooks for that matter. But then it costs only Dkk 5000.- for a complet setup with 15 inch touch screen with built in PC and smart mouse/ keyboard. So you can begin to dream of a kitchen machine or the familys message bulletin board in a digital way.

Specs on the Asus Eee Top is:

PCWorld has written a loner review in which they write:

“Niche Product or trivialized?

A final assessment of the Asus Eee Top is difficult to reach because the computer sits between 2 chairs. On the other side the Eee top is somehow half- hearted bid for a touch screen PC, where you at a pretty interval experience frustrations when you are forced to keep a keyboard and a mouse in hand. In addition to the obvious hardware limitations, which means that the PC is suitable for very basic needs.

Showing good stroke

If you and your family already owns one or two computers, the Eee Top, can however be a good entertaining and unusual extension to It equipment in your home. But otherwise, there is a good reason to let your eyes dwell on alternatives to nearly the same price that’s offer better expandability and horsepower.

We reward Asus Eee Top with a 3 stars as it is an average product without all the big arm gestures. The touch- sensitive computer displays good qualities for the price, and more complete user interface in the future might mean that HP must take competition very seriously. So far Eee Top remains nevertheless a very interesting PC supplement that appeal to a very limited audience.”

Sneak peek of HP 2140

So is the after the popular Hp netbook Hp 2133 almost ready, probably in the DK soon- it’s called the HP 2140 and is now a 10 inch screen rather than 9 inch .SMugkig på HP 2140 hp 2140 350x350

What is new, is that they have switched from VIA for Intel CPU so now they are more like everyone else. In this case it is an advantage to be as boring as the others, since Vista was a heavy stuff for the little VIA CPU, which was the brain of the old HP netbooks. Now the new is available in both Vista and XP, and I would definitely rather go for the XP model, although like all the others the Vista doesn’t bother me that much, but it is just too heavy for a slow mini-put laptop with CPU Intel Atom.

The old mini-note received a lot of praise when it comes to keyboard, which is the best in the class. It is actually unchanged, ‘if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it’.

Besides you can get it with a high screen resolution, which you still can in fact higher than the old netbook, along with the cheaper model with the ordinary small resolution.

Here are the specs:
CPU: 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270
Display: 10.1 “1024 x 576 or 1366 x 768 pixels
HD: 160GB HDD or 80GB SSD
2 USB ports – which many have criticized the old model – it’s just below!
3 or 6 cell battery – 6-cell battery sticks out the back, but could cause the machine to run in 5 hours time
HP 3D Drive Guard (security so HD’en off when you drop the machine – if it works perfectly, starting with the SSD disks to fumble, at least they are so much more expensive ..)

It costs Dkk 3600,- Which is not insanely cheap compared to the Asus Eee PC’s or many other netbooks! But in return you will get a bite of a really good mini-note anyways, besides the good name of DELL, among many others. The quality of DELLS machines have generally fluctuated over the past few years, but everything suggests that this is above average- so it probably also applies for mini- note Dell Inspiron Mini 9

Asus Eee PC 904HA ready in DK

So the Asus Eee PC 904HA for sale in the country!Asus Eee PC 904HA klar i DK eee pc 904ha 350x350

The difference between the new Eee PC and the “Old” Asus Eee PC 900HA is that the 904s comes with 4 cell battery, but Eee PC 904HA comes with 6 cells. It results to a better battery performance – it is clearly the best among the best netbooks. The battery is in fact similar to the Asus Eee PC 1000H, but with the smaller screen the battery life will of course perform better.

Qual – keyboard:

As the main rumors about 904 model predicted, there is also focus on the keyboard. It is reported that the size is 95% of a normal notebook keyboard. To make room for a much better keyboard the machine is encapsulated in a cabinet, that comes from Asus Eee PC 1000- series. It means that you get a plastic edge around the screen (as you can see in the picture below) and it is as big and clunky as a 10” netbook even it only has a 9” screen. The weight is actually a little bit less than the 10 inch netbook. But the keyboard has been everyone’s problem when it comes to netbook or mini-notes, so in general this will be a perfect machine for many people, a cheap machine but with a much better keyboard ad much better battery life than the example you find on an Acer Aspire One, which costs the same. And after all the Asus Eee PC 904HA still so lightweight and small, it won’t be a problem to have it with you. Perfect for people who actually uses their machines often when they are on the go- such as reporters or writers.

Eee PC 904HA comes in 2 colors: Pearl White and Fine Ebony. OS is both Xp and Linux. Besides the battery is the investment on necessary specs the same as always: Asus Eee PC 904HAAsus Eee PC 904HA klar i DK eee pc 904ha frame 350x350

Asus Eee PC 1002HA comes in Week 11

It should be very true, that Asus new 10″- model should hit the Danish markets in week 11:

Asus PC 1002HA
Asus Eee Pc 1002HA kommer i uge 11 asus eeepc 1002ha 350x296

It seems that the Eee PC 1002 HA will be a real winner. It is of course a 10” model, in additional to the standard specs (see below) is spiced with a good battery and a design that is borrowed a lot from the acclaimed design model in Asus Eee PC Series, named Eee PC S101. So nice and probably with a little slimline look with a weight below the Asus Eee PC 1000H.

There are lots of improvements on the Asus Eee PC 1000H except for one thing: the battery. The new battery is smaller and also results in low performance than the old one from Eee PC 1000H. Some sources say it should be a 2 cell battery, that should not be used as an indicator of performance because its 4200 MAH perform better than, let’s say 3 cell batteries on the market. In general you should be able to pull out 3 – 3 ½ hours of use out of the machine, although the manufacturer (Asus) always guess high by 5 hours.

The Keyboard was also said to be or become among the best in the netbook market which of course not least due to the size:

Asus Eee Pc 1002HA kommer i uge 11 asus eeepc 1002ha 2

for many 9 “ models are simply too small to have a good keyboard. The price Dkk 3700 sounds to very reasonable, and it’s going to be everyone’s favorite among all mini-notes – good keyboard, good (and large) monitor, reasonable battery life (but not advanced) and a design that truly is a class above all other than S101, which is a bit more expensive in general.

Rumor: Asus launches Eee PC Shell

Update: The Eee PC (Sea) Shell get the model named Asus Eee PC 1008HA – and all the rumors are out, the organic form seems to hold the water, including the updated CPU, Intel N280 is used.

Asus probably launches the new model named Eee PC Shell, during the month of April. Anyways that’s the what the rumors says.

Asus Eee PC Shell would be a sister to Asus Eee PC S101 a slim netbook with in a luxury class. Sources says that the Eee PC ShellRygte: Asus lancerer Eee Pc Shell 2394105211 comes with a better hardware and shouls be easy to transport. Whatever that means. It could either refer to an even lower weight or it could be because “Shell” means the the Eee PC Shell gets a little more organic forms, which also function as a better handle. You can never know, but the rumor comes from Chinese Media via Google Translate.

Eee Pc Shell was said to have a better battery life than the Asus Eee PC S101 and also it comes with a 10” screens. The Price of Eee PC Shell will also be lower than the Asus PC S101 so it could be a really nice machine.

Moreover., it seems that 10” screen will be standard for most new netbooks in 2009. Perhaps we will know more after the CeBit Event show next week and can confir, or deny whether the Asus Eee PC Shell is fantasy or reality!

Eee Box 204 and Eee Box 206 is still on backorder

Asus’s small and popular desktop PC called the Eee Box is still back order in Denmark,

Eee Box 204 og Eee Box 206 stadig i restordre eee 175x175

when we talk about the new models named Asus Eee Box 240 and Asus Eee Box 206TH. The old model Asus Eee Box 202 can be found in many places.

To those who don’t know the Asus Eee Box, it can be noted that this is not an ordinary desktop PC, but what is called a nettop. A counter part to the netbook compared to a normal ordinary netbook or laptop PC. Asus Eee box built with m any components as known from the Asus Eee PC and you will have a very small and incredibly powerful and efficient PC, but does not have the world’s wildest powerhouse when you are talking about pure performance. The hard drive consists among other things the well known Intel Atom 1.6 GHz CPU, 160 GB hard drive, 1 GB RAM, card reader, LAN, wifi / wireless network card and Windows XP operating system.

You should not buy Asus Eee Box because it plays the newest and latest games, making lots of heavy video editing and perhaps not even Photo shopping, if you are an impatient person or have very heavy images to work with, this is simply too slow for you.

Asus Eee Box is perfect contrast to many other things. Imagine a single server in the house, such as file and print server will the Asus Eee Box 202 work perfectly. It is not noisy, and it is environmental friendly, it is also a great fit for your wallet, for a PC to run “24 x 7×365 (as they advertise in the old days) are nit using as much power.

With the Asus Eee Box’s 16-19 watts of power you can get for under 300 GBP a year by always having it switched on. Also as a back-up server is very fitted, though the hard disk capacity of 160 GB maybe slightly below, and one (power saving 2.5”) USB hard drive beside. The Eee Box will soon need. Asus Eee Box 202 can be set on the market for 2000 kr. If we are lucky, but that is actually phased out, so when the last one is sold out, don’t expect there are more batches to come from Asus.

Asus Eee Box, because of its small size can be stores everywhere, and even perfect for such kitchen PC setups and many other fun projects. The Asus Eee Box other than the use of energy also comes with lots of advantages. First it can be installed after the VESA standard, for example it can be placed behind the flat screen and partly Eee Box comes with express Gate (also called Splash top) an instant on, OS or operating system, which more or less to use once you turn the Eee Box on. It is very Stripped down operating system that instantly allows you to chat, see photos or move files, use skype or go online via a browser and check mail, surf the web and so on. You can for example be busy and just need to check bus schedules. Asus Eee Box machines will “naturally” also with Windows XP, you can also wait the usual time to start your known OS instead.

The difference from an Asus Eee Box 204 and Asus Eee PC 206 is its little sister Asus Eee Box 202 is the graphics card. (the official model names are not 202, 204 or 206 but Asus Eee Box B202” “Asus Eee Box B204 and Asus Eee Box B206 where the B probably stands for BOX.)

How come Asus only comes with onboard graphics card with shared RAM (intel GMA 950 graphics) where Asus Eee Box 204 and Eee Box 206 comes with real graphics card: ATI Radeon HD 3450 with 256 MB DDR2 RAM. A total upgrade! This is a great upgrade, Asus reportedly developed clay their drivers, so the graphics card make a little more tasks from the CPU than you normally see on defaults. Whether it has anything unknown on it, but it seems reasonable enough since Intel Atom CPUs (like almost netbooks / mini int also use) so very weak compared to today’s standard, for example Core 2 Duo. In additional, the Asus Eee Box 204 and 206 gives the pleasure of upcoming with HDMI connector the CAN hardly be easier to connect the new Eee Box’s to the TV! Both Asus Eee Box 204 and Asus Eee Box 206 also come with a remote control.

As the quick reader have noticed long time ago that the Asus Eee Box 204 and Asus Eee Box 206 with their dedicated graphics and HDMI connector with perfect candidates to operate the family media center PC/HTPC!

The Eee Box does not come with any TV tuner, so in order to cooperate in its Media center ?PVR you must buy a TV tuner and it must be the USB ones, since there is obviously no room for PCI card upgrades in the tiny Asus Eee Box. Moreover there is an anecdote evidence that the machine are not optimal for HD material where it is possible for ordinary HD but when you get up in Full-HD is starts extremely low. If you can manage without Full- HD should these boxes be excellent for that purpose.

Asus Eee Box 204 is currently at on an estimated price of Dkk 3200 – while the Asus Eee Box 206 is available for Dkk 3000. What do you get to throw an extra Dkk 200 on the table? A couple of quirky features, as some would put very much appreciation and others cold hardly care, like Bluetooth and ( and yeah Bluetooth for me could be wise to have but otherwise) a battery. Yes its true, Asus Eee Box 204 comes with a built battery that can last for “up to” ½ hour. Most will probably say that it is limited, because this is a desktop, you should not see it as an actual battery solution but as a UPS solution, the battery can only be used when it comes to power failure. OK, the screen turns off anyway when you have no power supply, but when you record a lot form TV or if you live in Cuba where black out is constant, it could be important to have the battery for your Asus Eee Box.  Asus eee Box is certainly a very exciting machine, which I could use for many exciting projects!

Buying Guide: Buying laptop week 17, 2009

Here is a post that is slightly outside the usual on Eee BC blog:Købsguide: Køb af bærbar PC uge 17, 2009 9275370

This time it’s not just about the Asus Eee PC’s but the purchase of laptop in general. How do you get the most of your money when buying a laptop? What is the best buy on laptops? Which laptop should I choose? These are probably the most typical questions you have in mind, but there is no simple answer to the question. It depends on the requirements and for what you will use a laptop for.

Here’s my round-up of recommendations if you need to buy a new laptop – and this applies both netbooks and ordinary laptop (which is notebook or laptop) – but keep in mind that you must have a lot of money. Some laptops have been found as a demo machines ( for example they have previously been used and such exchange or returned with an error, then the error has been corrected and they put it up for sale again). Therefore they are cheaper than you might actually compare to others. You can find them at www.edbpriser.dk

–          The new model of the above, a better design, slightly smaller, lighter and with much better battery life. There are still more handy netbooks than this one, but it is clearly about favorites when it comes to battery life and keyboard and so on.

Asus Eee PC 1002 HA Intel Atom N280 1.6 GHz, 1 GB DDR2 SDRAM, 10 inch screen, 160 GB HD, Bluetooth, Windows XP Home

-Probabaly the closest to slimline laptop, you can get with 10 inch- with the stunning designs that are known from the Asus Eee PC S101, only much cheaper. But with poor battery life than the above because it is so thin.

–          Is an ordinary PC, this is faster than Hp netbooks especially because it has a much faster CPU (CPU is known as brain / motor in the computers) and with Dvd burner and so on, but still with a small 13 inch screen and weights only 1.9 kilo. It is a small and handy machine that weights slightly less than the macbook (though it looks much more clumsy than MacBook). But not quite small enough to be counted as a subnotebooks., but clearly easier to use for everyday use at school or university than the ordinary clumsy laptops

– Demo portable machine (with full warranty) with newer / faster CPU than the model above at 2GHz and plenty of RAM to run the Windows Vista. Although both this and the above machine is approximately-2 GHz, you should be aware that this machine is almost twice as fast or more efficient as a Celeron! So you can’t compare the GHz CPUs if not the same model or type.

The graphics card is a built in for this model, so it’s no good to the latest 3D games, but it will be super for office tasks, images, network tasks.

– Notebook PC which is also a demo machine (but with full warranty) which is very similar to the above. CPU is similar strong, but there is a little less RAM with 3 GB, but then separate graphics card. This will be better for newer games – but maybe a little slower for office tasks and surfing with “mil tones” of open tabs because it has the 1GB less RAM

– On the manual or user guide,  this is the machine mentioned all of the above, but partly the CPU is the best kind (maybe 50% better than above) and especially the graphics card of a different caliber: Here we’re talking some of the best graphics card you can get for reasonable price in a laptop, so you can also play a lot of new games on this laptop.

Laptop PC with most beautiful design: Købsguide: Køb af bærbar PC uge 17, 2009 apple macbook hvid 2 175x175
White Apple MacBook: 13 “ TFT display, 2.0GHz Intel Core 2 Duo CPU, 2GB DDR2, 120GB HD, NVIDIA GeForce 9400M graphics
– MacBook is a relatively powerful PC with the same type of CPU as in the above machine but at a minimum slower version, and with less RAM and less powerful graphics card – it’s of onboard-type, but at least right now with Strongly onboard graphics card on the market.
Many, including myself, still think that the white MacBooks, the notebook PC market that has the most beautiful design! So even if you have received new model in aluminum, which you should definitely consider if you just have to have the newest ( faster type of RAM on the motherboard), then  the white Apple MacBook has just arrived here , first of all because the white MacBooks are also significantly cheaper than the new aluminum.

General information about MacBook’s can be said that they have fairly good specifications and that their hard drive  works perfectly together – giving the feeling that they are a bit faster than standard PCs with similar harddrive. They are also very noisy. However, one should take a careful consideration whether you bother to learn a new operating system, since they do not come with Windows but with Mac OSX. You can easily install Windows on the machines, but then, you have to “put up with it.”
dkk  6862, – (excl. VAT dkk 5490, -)

The conclusion:
The conclusion must be that there are plenty to choose from! 🙂
Personally, I could cut the choice down further. In Netbook category I would unhesitatingly choose namely Asus EEE PC 1000HE.
For alm. laptop I’d choose:
Toshiba Satellite Pro U400-15M, where it should be easy to transport
Acer AS5735Z-324G32MN 15.6 “if I” just “should have maximum benefit for the least money.
In the design category is the Apple MacBook alone back as normal. portable, but if a netbook can meet your needs (eg, that still only works with normal temperature. office tasks, email and surf), then an Asus Eee PC 1002HA netbook be a very strong joker!

Rumor: New Eee PC with a separate graphics card: Asus Eee PC 1000HV

Asus announced a new Eee PC models on the market as bad as a shit from a calf.

Rygte: Ny Eee PC med separat grafikkort: Asus Eee PC 1000HV eee pc 1000hv 350x276

However, there isa part of the Eee PC’s that doesn’t arrive in Denmark or in Europe for that matter. This time it seems however that there is a great news from Asus Eee PC/Netbook market:

Asus Eee PC 1000HVAsus and other netbook / mini note manufacturers so far have turned on all the same parameters mainly the choice of 9” vs. 10” SSD vs HDD and battery capacity- but rarely have created something that is truly unique, just small improvements over the same theme, there is probably now an Eee PC model emerging which can turn out to be more unique: Introducing Asus Eee PC 1000HV,. The uniqueness of this is the separate graphics card. It means you suddenly can use this Asus Eee PC for some things you have thought was impossible : to name a few like games, and create heavier graphic tasks.  It should of course be taken with consideration, because you still get an eee PC machine with 1 GB RAM and the slow Intel Atom CPU which is found in all netbooks right now, so obviously it is not a ridiculous thing to leave that way, it is still a netbook just to be practical, and everything happens on a small 10 inch.  But you can perform a lot more tasks on an Asus Eee PC 1000HV with its separate graphics card into one can in a generally resembled book including the other Eee PCs.

The Graphics card is also ATI Radeon HD 3450, which is clearly at the low end in performance compared to today’s graphics cards, nit it will still be better than the built in “onboard” (“Separate” and integral” should not be misunderstood- Asus Eee PC 100HV will off course also have the graphics card inside the its own RAM, and so on. And not just an embedded chip that sits onboard = on the Eee PC’s motherboard and shares the RAM with the rest of the machine.)

With the Asus Eee PC 1000HV you get 256 MB of Ram on separate graphics card and the possibility of DirectX 10.1 and HD material. The other specs on the Asus Eee PC 1000HV appears to be similar to the Asus Eee PC 1000HE for example it is not the slightest machine but a solid machine with no errors or deficiencies ( So you can avoid the “deadly sins” in netbooks like that also saves battery capacity)

Example Asus Eee PC 1000HV comes with 1.66GHz Intel Atom N280 CPU, 160GB HDD, 10.1 “ LED- backlight LCD screen, Bluetooth and a 6 cell battery.

It should be emphasized, however that the Asus have not yet announced the official when this will be out on the market, so for now the information comes from a dealer. So far the new Asus Eee PC 1000HV is not a definitive fact yet.

Update: It seems that Asus is saying that the machine is real – but there is a model that will only be sold exclusively to the Italian IT shop Computer Discount. So either you buy from Italy or you have to miss the Asus Eee PC 1000 for the moment.

Best buy right now: Asus Eee PC 1000HE

The netbook that I will Highlight as Best Buy currently is no doubt the Asus Eee PC 1000HE,

Bedste køb p.t.: Asus Eee PC 1000HE asus eee pc 1000he 350x262

Asus Eee PC 100HE is the sequel to the popular Asus Eee PC 1000TH the bew model 1000HE gas many of the same qualities as the old Eee PC, but have some few points in improvements.

Asus Eee PC 1000HE is alsi a 10 inch netbook and has a slightly nicer design than the old model, it is slimmer and lighter and has better keyboards (bigger) better screen (LED lighting and based on LCD monitor) AND most importantly Asus Eee PC 1000HE has a superior battery! For what does it help with a  small and smart Eee PC / netbook, if you can work on it a couple more hours? With Asus Eee PC 100HE you can use it for many hours – up to 8 hours if everything works out well.

Now it sounds too much of a sales pitch – it’s really not but I am also very excites about the Asus Eee OC 1000HE and won’t hesitate to recommend it as currently the Best Buy, if I am asked ( I actually often tell).

For the simpler points you can find competitive netbook’s/ mini- notes that are better. They usually not as nice and small as the Asus Eee PC S101, Asus Eee PC 1002HA or Asus Eee PC 1008HA ( Seashell when it pops up) (yes even the Asus Eee PC 1000HE may even seem too clumsy compared with the tiniest wonders). The keyboard is not as good on HP 2133 and HP 2140 and the screen resolution is not as great as the expensive HP models, and it is not as cheap as the cheapest MSI wind or Acer Aspire. But with the Asus Eee PC 1000HE you get overall well rounded package that does not fall through anything actually is pretty good in virtual with the respect. So, rather have a netbook that looks bigger or a netbook that have a better keyboard, and fall through with the other points you get with Asus Eee PC 1000HE an all around better quality for just under Dkk 300!

Of course everything should be taken with a grain of salt so if you only need to check some email from time to time at a café or something like that, then Asus 1002HA probably an equally good choice. But the most valuable for your money and most effective work machine ( within the areas where a netbook can be used), is certainly getting the Asus Eee PC 1000HE.

The specifications on the paper are fairly standard:

Eee PC 1000HE with Win Xp

Available in colors: Pearl White, Black, Blue, Golden
CPU: Intel Atom N270 / N280
1 GB DDR2 RAM
HDD 160GB
10.1 “LED backlit LCD monitor with 1024 x 600 resolution
1.3 MPixel webcam
6-Cell Li-ion battery, which on paper could produce up to 9.5 hours of battery time
WiFi: 802.11b/g/n
Bluetooth
Weight: 1450g
Dimensions: 266mm (W) x 191.2mm (D) x 28.5mm ~ 38mm (H)

ASUS Eee PC 1004DN

Asus is ready with another news in the series of Asus Eee PC netbooks.

Asus Eee PC 1004DN asus eee pc 1004dn 350x350

This time it’s a model that is a bit different than we are used to in the series of mini-notes, the Asus Eee PC 1004DN. What makes the Asus Eee PC 1004DN different from for example Eee PC 1002HA or 1000HE is not the screen size, CPU or RAM, it is that we are already used to everything from Asus Eee PC 1000H for Asus Eee PC 1008 HA with 10” screen, Intel Atom CPU at 1.6 GHZ (there may be a little difference between these Atoms- but the performance is almost the same regardless, it is a N280 model) and with the 1 GB of RAM.

It is very exciting news that this netbook comes with optical drive and a brand new chipset. Intel GN40 with integrated graphics X4500M. The graphics should certainly be faster than the GMA 950 graphics cards we know from all other netbooks, not as good as all Eee PC’s.

Some sources say that this graphics card is powerful enough to help slow Atom CPUs to actually pull HD contents. Actually I really don’t think that many people have HD materials on their machines, but it is nice to have the opportunity, and also have a good limit to have for how much a PC actually provides. And with this news you can you can have Asus Eee PC, that crosses the line.

According to the reputation this Asus Eee PC 1004DN should have an excellent keyboard, which the size is 92% compared with a full keyboard and the layout is MacBook style, example the spaces between the keys. There is a fingerprint reader, which some businessmen will appreciate. The screen is matte like, which most appreciate because the glare issue is less of a problem. It is also extremely rare to see on a cheap laptop for some reason, but as for now we still don’t have a price yet.

And it gets more exciting! For the comfortable low price, this is a really good example of a fine machine, though the lack of optimal drive (DVD drive) I have personally experienced have held back several buyers of netbook! BUT you can already fear that the price of this will be at a high-end as well and then it will probably never get a best seller, because this is a netbook that needs improvement with chipset and graphics card so that it will reach a performance you know from an ordinary laptop – and many have chosen this item for its low price. On the other hand there is also a bunch of good netbooks for something more, which is completely different than a normal and average laptop.

But then the question is whether they need the DVD drive in their Eee PC. My guess is that this is a pretty small niche.

I can assume that there will be an 11.6 model out of these machines for not so long. Since it seems to be the new trend, as we approach, probably even more ordinary laptops – not only the price, but unfortunately also for the form factor. Let’s see, we don’t even know when this Eee PC or 11.6 inch model will show up in the country yet.

Brief News: HA takes over the entire market!

ASUS EEE PC:Kort nyt: HA overtager hele markedet! 3515349420

Yes, it is true. It is not a Biker related markets, this is about, but rather about stores for netbooks. There has been a discussion, that Asus HA products is going to take over Asus market for their Eee PC netbooks. The old favorites like Asus Eee PC 1000H, Asus Eee PC 1000HE, Asus Eee PC 901. These products will soon phase out from the Danish market and the HA line will take over in particular these models :

  • Asus Eee PC 1008HA ( the small smart slim model, but with a shorter battery life.)
  • Asus Eee PC 1101HA (which is Asus bids on an 11” netbook, the 11” netbook will be the new black design. Unfortunately, this is with a downgraded CPU, which makes the machine slower than what we are used to, probably to save battery life or comply with Microsoft aspirations to XP’s will not be sold with netbook discount if these netbooks are too heavy.
  • Asus Eee PC 1005HA ( the ordinary model with super good battery life if you get the 6 cell model)
  • And many more other HA models.
  • Whether this is just a rumor or ASUS in Denmark or Scandinavia will really clean up the old models and import HA models, but time will tell. The fact is however that it some time before the stocks of old Asus Eee PC are cleared out.

Selection of Asus Eee PC 1005HA model

Asus Eee PC 1005 HA is one of the most popular netbooks at the moment.

And this is true, for the Asus new “standard” model is a real workaholic at the moment, with its excellent battery properties can run for hours- while it’s all wrapped in a stylish design.

When you look at  EDBpriser you may wonder why there is so much difference in the prices of Asus Eee PC 1005HA. The explanation is simple: there are 2 different models of Asus Eee PC 1005 HA on the market and of course 2 different prices, there is 1005HA and 1005HA-H and 1005HA-M, which one should you, choose?

These 2 models have something in common when it comes to design, they are both pretty nice in design, inherited from Asus Seashell Asus Eee PC 1008HA, but somewhat that 1008HA’s are up to 1cm more. The keyboard should be better one on  the market and the screen resolution are both on 10”- but with one small difference as shown below. The standard specifications with 1 GB RAM and 160 GB hard drive, they also have in common – yet the hard drive in 1005HA-H maybe a newer type of interface. The connection both the Asus Eee PC 1005HA-H is with 3 USb ports, audio in/out, ehtrenet and a 2 in 1 card reader. Both of course have the usual Windows Xp Hom edition. Although they look quite the same the 2 machines are not identical. See the difference here:

Difference Asus 1005HA-H    Asus 1005HA-M Comments
Screen: Glare Ordinary Both is 10" 1024x600, but
                                                  1005HA-H er w/blare screen(*)
    CPU: N280 1,66GHz N270 1,60GHz Both Intel Atom CPU's -
                                                  thereøs almost no difference.
Battery: 5600 MAh 4400 MAh Both with 6-cells battery,
                                                  with 1005HA-H w/bigger capacity.
    Bluetooth: Yes No -
Webcam: 1,3 Mpixel 0,3 Mpixel Both are OK for chat, but 1005HA-H
                                                  have better resolution (**)
Harddisk: SATA-300 SATA-150 Probably not noticeable

    Which one should you buy?

The price is difference, today it is approximately DKK 300, incl. VAT and with the small difference I would not be in doubt I would choose the “expensive” model, the Asus Eee PC 1005HA-H. It is with a better webcam, possibly faster Hard Drive and a better CPU that you practically would not feel. Also if you are in need of Bluetooth, then this makes the choice even easier! The selections is however the battery life, it both should be really good to be more specific 10.5 and 8.5 hours for only DKK 300 more. I will certainly choose the one were I get more battery life, which  Asus Eee PC 1005HA-H provides.

Remember that the battery life from all manufacturers should always be taken a great considerations, they can be more misleading for practical users than carmakers km/ liter returns. On the other half it should be easy to squeeze out of machines and by 5 hours and 15 minutes over 4 hours and 15 minutes you get whole full extra hour for only $ 300 which is worth the money.

The only caution is that the Asus Eee PC 1005HA-H model is in my opinion has the glossy design, which of course depends on one’s taste – I guarantee there are others who prefer the shiny screen rather than the ordinary dull design.

(*) Personally I have never understood the trick of blank screen!  Yeah that color looks stronger, however I personally prefer the standard monitor, it is easier to use when you are outside or sitting somewhere where there is too much light.

(*) According to some reports both models are with 1.3 Mpixels webcam, but it is not what it says on the EDBpriser!

User review of the Asus Eee PC 1005HA

This time we are lucky to get a “guest blogger” on the field – named Mary Mainz. Mary

has jus tbought an Asus Eee PC 1005HA-H and therefore needed to make a review of the item,. A friend of Mary also bought an Eee PC 1005HA’s  so we have a second opinion to consider here. The beauty of this description is that these people are not technology nerds like many of the reviewers of this site. This makes it very interesting for ordinary people to read a review  of Asus Eee PC 1005 HA and see what a person with non-technical focus as themselves think about the machine.

Here is what Mary writes about the Asus Eee PC 1005HA after using it in a short time:

Package Contents: With the computer follows power, thin black cord, user guide, support DVD and warranty card. Installations are quick and easy, and comes with most common applications which are: Windows Xp, Internet explorer, Office 2007 and so on are pre-installed, so you can make use of the computer as quickly as possible. The appearance is great, it both lives up to my expectations. It’s small and nice and just as shiny as the pictures. The shiny surface also means that it can easily get fingerprints markings which are very clear. Furthermore it is very light which makes it very handy to carry around.

The Keyboard has a good size and the few buttons that are omitted from the keypad is very easy to find using the FN button. I am very curious to look at the keyboards because it looks like the letters are stickers. But I hope it sticks and will be visible. In Additional the keyboard also seems a little plastic-like.

The touch pad I fine in size, but you have to get used to the up right surface. And I think the mouse buttons are a little bit too hard to press down, which is very irritating. The built in scroll function (horizontal and vertical) I could not get to work. For the other reviewers it works perfectly and flawlessly, she was also very excited about the features. In additional the build in two-finger zoom function that works well with me while the for the other reviewer find it somewhat difficult to use.

Regarding the battery life, none of us really fully tested it, but we’ve both had the comuter on for 5 to 6 hours without having it connected to an outlet. The power supply itself is very small and light, which is obviously also a big plus. Performance and speed of the computer has not been disappointing, but we also both chosen to have 1 extra GB ram put in, which probably is the reason (usually provided with 1 GB RAM). None of us have had really demanding programs ran, but the various programs that have run parallel to each other has not lowered the speed and performance, for that reason it has also met my expectations. At one point I installed several programs at once, which meant that I could hear the fan, but otherwise it is very quite and you hardly notice it running. Overall a pretty good machine for school use where the size and battery life is a crucial factor.

-Many thanks to Mary for user review of the Eee PC 1005 HA!

    Some interesting considerations above is:

Battery life on the Asus Eee PC 1005HA is so good that the user did not notice it. And it is the most positive thing to say about the battery. For the first cheap 9” netbooks on the market there were people that were often tired of having the computer connect to an outlet after it had been used for only a couple of hours. The keyboard on the Asus Eee PC 1005HA, it might be that it will have more positive feedbacks along the way by many who are “accustomed” to something really rubbish at the very cheapest netbooks. But ordinary users who are use to high end keyboard, it could be of desktop quality from Logitec would be impressed of the keyboard.

The small smart features with scroll and zoom have received different feedbacks, it is not necessary an a endless jubilation they meet with. The look on the Asus Eee PC 1005HA hit the market, both compels, IT critics and user think Asus Eee PC 1005HA is a beautifully designed machine.

Performance on the Asus Eee PC 1005 HA, it’s very interesting to see user reviews the quality performance on Asus Eee PC 1005HA, major or minor geeks looks at the performance as the greatest weakness of allnetbooks –  because they are accostumed to minimum quad-core CPU machines (Dual Core is so last year among the geeks) with 2 numbers GB of RAM that is preferably run photoshop, #D Studio Max Skype several types of browsers and palay an HD video in a corner of the screen and Far Cry in another, all together at once while the latest DivX coverted to their iPhone and it can be an Atom CPU that is in almost all netbooks, including the Asus Eee PC 1005HA would simply not help. But for general use display performance of the Asus Eee PC 1005HA is very nice according to this review. ALSO with more”regular” programs running at once. Also the opportunity to upgrade to 2 GB of RAM is a great importance just to have multiple programs running so it sounds like a very sensible thin g to upgrade!

New Eee Box EB1012 with ION – perfect media center?

Now there’s a good news for all Eee Box fans and all others who have generally been looking forward to having a perfect Media Center PC: Eee Box 1012 is here!

Compared to the ‘old’ Eee Box, which had model number 202 and Eee Box since Eee Box and Eee box 204 206, there have been improvements in all areas!

First of all, there is now a discussion of a dual core machine with ION graphics/ chipset. This means that the brain itself, the CPU is now twice as fast as other desktops and netbooks, and where else the ‘old’ Aton CPUs is used. ( You should be aware that 2 cores are rarely twice as much as 1 and that there are still talking about the Atom CPUs, which then is tremendously slow compared to normal Core Duo CPUs but there is a big improvement over the old Eee Bos and all the competitors) The fact that currently used is ION graphics/chipset which is very important. In most competitive machines are used some what “outdated” Intel board graphics and with this Ion will have a leap.

-By combining these 2 things (Especially since ION can help the CPU in several points) means that the new Asus Eee Box 1012 or Asus Eee Box EB1012 don’t know yet the official model number) can manage much more than the old Asus Eee Box. First and foremost this is very important to know when you are planning to use the Eee Box as a media center! Furthermore, they have doubled the memory from 1 GB to 2 GB with the option to upgrade to 4GB total (2 RAM slots).

And the new Asus Eee Box EB 1012 is in fact a perfect media center! The old Eee Box 204 and Eee Box 206 was also excellent in many ways for media center because they were small and quite ( is it really quite?) It had one flaw though: It was very difficult to get them to play HD movies with it had to stutter or make frictions of the movies.

The small HD resolution could work and though some geeks reported that it was possible to get them to play bigger HD resolutions as well, so it was still something that took too much hacks and tricks. It should be a thing in the past – with dual core Atom CPU and ION should Asus Eee Box EB1012 be ready to  themselves through movies in full –HD.

So it must be official that the Asus Eee Box EB1012 is the perfect media center. This means that you can connect the box with your flat screen TV because there are both S/ PDIF 5.1 out of sound and HDMI connectors. The small size and the power consumption are also important parts on the front. All you need to be aware of is that you (unlike some old models) usually don’t get a remote control, keyboard and mouse with the Asus Eee Box 1012, so please look for a package that has al l the accessories included or you can buy it separately. You have to expect that usually it is not included, so you have to be aware of that. My advice to you is that you also have to notice how big the hard drive is in your Asus Eee Box HB1012 and what the operating system it comes with.

Asus usually include the OS Windows Vista Home, which will be very helpful. Here you should try to get the box with Windows 7 (or free upgrade to Win 7) before you order Asus Eee Box 1012TH also coming hard drive space from 160 GB to 250GB, you have to make sure you get the big one, or at least consider it when you are comparing prices on Asus Eee Box 1012/ Like the old Asus Eee Boxes and all other machines in the same category, I have come across there is no DVD drive in Asus Eee Box EB1012. So if you are addicted to DVD discs, you have to wait a little longer. Asus Eee Box EB1501 is coming soon and this model has the DVD drive.

Let’s take a look at the Asus Eee Box 1012’s specifications:
OS: Windows ® Vista Home Premium – maybe Win 7?
CPU Intel ® Atom N330 Dual Core
RAM 2GB of RAM (up to 4G) DDR2-800
    HDD 2.5 “160-250GB
    Chipset NVIDIA MCP7A ION
    Graphics NVIDIA ION
    LAN 10/100/1000 Mbps
    WiFi 802.11b/g/n
    Connectors / connections
Card Reader (SD / SDHC / MS / MS Pro / MMC)
    USB x6 Total
    Headsets
    Micorofon
    eSATA
    Wi-Fi antenna
    Gigabit Lan
    HDMI Out
    D-Sub
Audio out (S / PDIF Out) jack
    Power supply 19Vdc, 2.1a, 40W
    Dimensions 222mm (W) x 178mm (H) x 26.9mm (D)
    Weight 1.1 kg
    Colors White or Black

The machine should come to the country in 42 weeks – ie. this week ..

User review on Asus Eee PC 1008HA

We are once again lucky to have a user kind enough to make a review for his new Asus Eee PC 1008HA.

This time it’s Martin Santon by the keyboard:

“So I finally received my Asus Eee PC and it was a 1008 HA model that you have heard from me lately. And I’d like to say some few quick words now I haven’t had long but I have a pretty good impression on it already, by the design which most wonderful I have ever had in my hands. Everything just fits together in one large unit.  The keyboard is great (92% of normal size) and it also work very well when I have to write a lot, like right now. I don’t make any mistakes on the keys. And beyond that, I have tried both to surf on the net and tried a few flash games on the web and also downloaded some small files – everything works out perfectly. I could not be happier with this small machine, after the minimum time I have used it.

I don’t know if whether in the future there will some things that are not so good or some things that are better (for example, I have not tried the Microsoft Office or the webcam and so on. ) but I promised to write a review here on the things I find and experience on this unit.

I think at least that the Asus Eee PC 1008ha is fabulous to use so far and although it is only 6 hours battery life, it fits me extremely well and the brilliant appearance is 100%. Regarding the battery, I have to try to use it without connecting it to an outlet and see how long it lasts.

There’s 3 power features that Asus has set available.

    Super Performance mode

    High Performance mode

    Power Saving Mode

What I’m going to use probably is the power saving modem I will probably be back soon for the review. The 2 other modes will probably take a longer time for me to make a review.

I hope it can be used for many things. I am certain that I will still be impressed no matter what hehehe.

    Best Regards

    Martin.

-Many thanks to Martin for his review on Asus Eee 1008HA!

Asus Eee PC 1008HA is, by the way the thinnest model in the HA line here, so a slimmer model than the Asus Eee 1005HA. The first lighter weight and cooler look, but obviously at the expense of battery life. It depends on what you prefer; it depends on your preferences and particular situation.

Here is a picture that shows the difference in thickness of Asus Eee Pc 1005HA vs. Asus Eee PC 1008HA: http://www.newgadgets.de/wp-content-uploads/2009/05/eee-pc-1005HA-vs-eee-pc-1008ha-1.jpg.

Good, but cheap: Asus Eee PC 1001PX and Asus Eee Pc 1005PX

Asus has always been good in building laptops and even in a fair and reasonable prices.

    One of their new models,

the Eee PC 1001PX as inspired by nature – it’s seashell design series inspired by shells, precisely because of its compact and light weight and smooth lines.

If you are looking for a cheap netbook, that still has all the essential features and functions as other netbooks, ASUS Eee PC 1001PX is one of them you should consider buying, ASUS Eee PC 1010PX, has the functions and features that you will appreciate and it comes in different colors.

Netbook ASUS Eee PC 1001PX has attractive designs and are lightweight and compact. It is available at a reasonable low price.

I will go into a greater detail with the ASUS Eee PC 1001 PX features and specifications.

    Let’s look at it here:

Asus Eee PC 1001PX comes with an OS which is Windows 7 Starts or Windows XP Home Edition and also or Express Gate OS. The last mentioned is a system for fast startup, where you just get the most basic functions. It is smart if you just need to check something on the web and will not have to wait for it to boot up from scratch (if it has been switched on to sleep mode).

    Processor

Like the other new netbook, the Asus 1001PX Seashell is powered by Intel Atom N450 processor(1.66 GHz),  So a reasonable standard.

    Display

Asus Eee PC 1101PX has a 10.1 “LED backlight WSVGA ante glare screen (1024 x 600). Standard size, It is fine that it is LED, and SUPER COOL that there is finally a (cheap) machine on the market without the glossy screen. (Confirm like if you have the machine that fits- is it with a lovely matte screen?)

    Flights

Asus Eee PC 1001PX comes with a WLAN 802.11b 4GHz and BluetoothV2.1* EDR there is no Wireless N connection specified for 1001 PX Seashell.

    Keyboard

Asus 1001 PX comes with a keypad similar to what you see in Seashell 1005HA model. This keyboard is very well designed considering ergonomics, so one can not find much better keypads on netbooks.

    Memory

Standard 1GB DDR2 memory, upgradeable to 2 GB, and it is also a great idea to upgrade, it will give a little more effort so it won’t be too slow.

    Hard Disk and Storage

Asus Eee PC 1001 PX can be ordered with a SATA 2.5 “160GB hard drive or a 250GB, both of which have spindle sppeds of 5400 rpm.

    Audio

Asus Eee PC 1001PX comes with a built in High Definition Audio CODEC, high quality speaker and built in microphone with a fairly good sound, that’s according to Asus itself. In general, you will never get a good sound out of built in speakers on a netbook.

    Input/output

Asus 1001 PX firefly comes with

    1x VGA connector

    2x USB 2.0

    1xLAN RJ-45

    1x Audio Jack (headphone.Mic-in)

    Card reader MMC/SD(SDHC)

    -So it is approved

    Battery

Asus Eee pc 1001 PX typically comes with 3 cell battery, 2.2h/cell, 23 WHR can provide a battery life time up to 4.5 hours.

(Also available with 5 cell 2.2AH/cell, 48WHR which can provide power to 1001PX up to 9 hours. It is however IT IS NOT WHAT YOU GET, when you choos the cheapest ASUS Eee PC 1001PX netbook, you can find for example on EDBpriser).

    Dimensions

    262 (W) x 178 (D) x 25.9 ~ 36.5 (H) mm

    Weight

1.1 Kilo (with 3 cell battery) it’s very light

    Colors

    Black, White, Blue

Where to buy Asus Eee PC 1001PX? Is probably your next question.

You can as you already know choose to buy it online or at your local electronic store – check out EDBpriser.

Asus has not only Eee PC 1001PX out on the market, they also have a similar model called Eee PC 1005PX, now you want to know what’s the difference between these 2 Asus netbook models. Besides the name, there are other features on Asus Eee PC 1005PX.

Here go to on with the specific details and compare the 2 models.

Eee PC 1005PX is “another pretty small seashell that ASUS has washed up on the shore” that is still a machine from firefly series.

Like the Asus Eee PC 1001PX the Eee 1005PX also available in many different colors. The appearance is almost the same if you don’t look carefully, you would think this is the same model. However, the Eee PC 1005PX has more colors available such as Pink as the Eee PC 1001PX don’t have.

Specifications on Eee PC 1005PX and Eee PC 1001PX is almost similar – of course they both can use Windows Xp and Windows 7, etc. The Asus Eee PC 1005PX often comes with the OS Windows 7 (standard configuration), while the Asus Eee PC 1001PX as the cheapest model usually comes with Windows XP.

Further more, there is a slightly a bigger Hard drive as standard( 250gb instead of 160) and MUCH beter battery lifetime on Asus Eee PC 1005PX, it comes with standard 6 cell battery. This is why it is a little bit heavier and thicker. 1.27 Kilo and a little bit thicker

    What should you choose?

Yes, now it becomes difficult. As the best deal I personally prefer the Asus Eee PC 1005PX for better battery lifetime, as it is important when you are travelling it is exactly a netbook that you can use.

OLPC / “$ 100 laptop” / XO is sold in Europe from today!

From today you can buy an XO PC, which is the OLPC project’s current model! The project was originally called the “$ 100 laptop”

but was later renamed to “One Laptop per child” because the vision to keep in under $ 100 are not met.

Since OLPC started the hype around a super cheap PC with small developing countries could afford ( or the rest of us could afford to buy them) started the wave of research at the various PC manufacturers around the world in order to make super cheap laptops. Intel was originally with the OLPC project, but they backed out and started their own development but with a slightly different foc

us in world development, which is cheap laptops to the classroom. While no other than the Executive Boards know the background, there are many who believe that the OLPC project in this way was to aim the whole netbook/ mini-note market over time, nonetheless the Asus Eee PC after all have done a very good job sales-wise.

The purpose of the OLPC’s XO computer is still known by bringing PC’s to the developing world and makes them competitiv

e in the modern world. That’s why you just can’t buy one without donating one yourself. It costs around 2500.- for 2 machines, one

that is donated to the charity!

What about the specs on the XO?

On the paper, at first they had nothing to brag about. But the whole purpose is entirely different than the general netbooks. OLPC’s XO is durable and reliable and with long battery life. The screen is 7.5 inches and is quite unique and serve as a fairly standard co

lor screens as well as black and white display with a high resolution of 1200 x 900i 200DPI. Super sharp and as one of the few screens as possible to read in direct and strong sunshine. And if you must prove your latest mountain climbing or jeep safari in the desert, you should get an XO from OLPC. Battery life is also very good since the screen for example only uses maximum 1 watt, when you have the backlight turned on and there are no heavy parts that can suck up the battery like the standard hard drive. Everything is much more durable than what we are used to, including the plastic in double thickness.
Buy your XO laptop from OLPC project here See specifications on OLPC’s Community Site

(Note: If you buy OLPC through my links above, you are supporting this blog as well with a few pennies too – and the OLPC you donate is actually no less!)

Link: Huge collection of mini-note reviews

Are you like many others who is thinking of buying a mini-note PC World has written an article for you where they go through 12 different ones.
    They are the ones here:
    1. HP 2133
    2. Acer Aspire One
    3. Asus Eee 900
    4. Asus Eee 901
    5. Asus Eee 1000H
    6. Asus Eee 701
    7. MSI Wind
    8. Dell Inspiron Mini 9
    9. Packard Bell Nebo
    10. Samsung NC10
    11. Lenovo S10.
    12. Lenovo IdeaPad U110
Considering that many of those not on the list are actually clones of the MSI Wind, so I think it looks like a pretty good overview where they have almost all the netbook machines. It gives a complete picture of the market for the Asus Eee PC killers, so you can safely build on this list when you take your choice of mini note. Yet it is technology we’re talking about, and especially Asus sends the new Eee PCs on the street like dirt from a tiny calf, so the list is probably outdated in a few months …

here you find the rest of the articles…

Asus Eee PC S101 launch in November

So this is the news from Asus, that they earlier proclaimed design versions of the Asus Eee PC: First Eee PC S101. This is about 10 inch mini note, which is kept at 1.1 kilo and contains relatively standard hardware.

So is it new about Asus’ earlier proclaimed design versions of the Asus Eee PC: First Eee PC S101. This is about a 10-inch mini-note, which is kept at 1.1 kg and contains relatively standard hardware. The specifications called: Intel Atom 1.6 Ghz CPU, 16 GB SSD, 10.2-inch LED display (and yes, the LED is pray than LCD), 0.3 MPixel webcam (Aw), Windows XP Home, 4-in-1 flash card reader ( a large SD card will probably be obvious to extend this Eee PC), multi-touch touchpad (so you can make iPhone / MacBook Air-style tricks on Eee PC tochpad) wireless network with 802.11n WiFi andBluetooth 2.0.
Besides the Asus Eee PC S101’s striking, slim design that not only comes in different colors, but reportedly also with better materials, the most important news is that Asus Eee PC S101 comes with a 4-cell battery that provides significantly better performance than 3-cell: about 4 hours, the Eee PC suck it out in the following PC World, while a standard 3-cell battery provides only a few hours of work.

Asus Eee PC S101 from the side – black model
The price is DKK from 4,500 to 5,000 when the Asus Eee PC S101 launched in Denmark in the middle of November. The appropriate time to get a good bite of the Christmas discounts. From here we have to  applause  over the new Eee PC machine that sounds like a perfect netbook with its 10 “screen, light weight and reportedly with a good keyboard, while the price, however makes us pout a bit .. If you think the MacBook Air killer, the price is digestive.

Asus Eee PC 900 gets even cheaper

On the 16th of october, sales of Asus Eee PC, and the birthday is has long ended, in the years we have sold more than 2 million Asus Eee PCs. It is now set as the reason fort he price of Eee PC 900 will be cheaper by approximately 300DKK so the final price is 2099,-

It is to be a very reasonable price. As you know, the Eee PC 900 standard specs, regarding the 9” inch screen and with 1 GB of RAM and WiFi. It differs from some competitors in having SSD/ flash disk on a total of 12 GB for Windows and 20 GB for the Linux model. The advantage is that the Eee PC 900 becomes a lot more durable in case you should drop it.

In return, the space is very limited. Similar to the most SSD, there is less battery power than the ordinary HDD it is also a plus. On the other hand many may count that there is only 900 mHz Celeron CPU. But you must remember that for many tasks such as email and surfing the web this is far enough – and even the 1.6 Ghz Atom CPU is faster, Atom representing a very choked machine so therefore it cannot be compared the same way such as a Celeron vs a P4 could in the old days. The battery is 4 cell and not a topnotch compared ti the Asus Eee PC 901, but the battery life is still expected to be better than for example the MSI Wind and Acer Aspire One.

Asus drops Linux on Eee PC

Since Asus has launched its Eee PC with Linux there hasn’t been any happy reviews given. This should be the catalyst that has brought Linux to the people and thereby again generating some competition in the market for OS. Other netbook followed with plans on having Linux operating system, such as Acer Aspire One. The case is the one that so far it has only been 30% of all netbooks that were with Linux, but the other 70% netbooks are sold with Windows XP, ( there are few netbooks that is sold with Vista for example HP, but this is a minority.)

    Asus Eee PC 901

The minor set back on sales has led Asus to totally dropped selling machines with Linux. It is the logistics with its many different models must then be found in 2 OS variants that are the problem. Asus believes that it’s simply not worth it.

My personal opinion is that it’s such a shame that Linux is now cut completely away from Asus side. But I can easily understand them , Asus has certainly got a damn good offer from Microsoft as soon as they started to see Netbook Linux distribution as a threat. I can also easily understand the buyers side, my upcoming netbook will definitely also be Windows. Simply because I have a lot of small programs  that I can use on it and everything is just easier.

The idea that Linux can take advantage of the scaled down resources much better than Windows, I still find it really good, but with Asus out of the market, Acer primary plays as the Linux dealer for netbooks, but with a lousy strategy the Acer Aspire One’s netbook sold with Linux is scaled down compared to XP versions for example with 512 MB of RAM instead of 1 GB and then the whole things done.

And so Linux is back on the Asus Eee PC

After massive criticism of Asus the choice to remove Linux from their machines and only sell Eee PC with Windows XP, they have withdrawn that decision.
Linux is back in the heat of the Asus Eee PC ..!
There is at least a couple of new Eee PCs from Asus next year and will be existing Eee PC models still continue to be sold in both Windows XP and Linux variants …

Bluetooth and larger HD are welcome improvements over the Medion Akoya they had for sale earlier this year. They write further: “Li-ion battery with high performance” ..Arhhh … Watch IT its enough to take your mouth too full! The weight suggests that it is just a 3-cell battery on this machine. And it is clearly the biggest drawback .
I am “obviously” Eee PC fan – but the reasons for selecting Medion Akoya offer over the Asus Eee PC 901’eren would be the screen size and possibly the use of  too much disk space (which is endurable  general kind, rather than the shock-resistant SSD model as most Asus Eee PC running). An extra inch does not sound much but actually looks more – so depending on use, it may be important. For email and Word, I do not care. Should I read the other hand, REALLY, really a lot of text on the train or make a little graphic (NOT design – you must not fool yourself that you can on any of them), so I want the extra inch to get “the magnified image up on “..
But the extra inch makes so only 3-cell battery even more miserable, because the screen is of course a vicious bloodsucker. So my guess is that the battery provides approximately one hour of concentrated use, while the Asus Eee PC would hold 4-5 x as much time
